Fredericksburg TX is also known as the “city of steeples” and for good reason the spires of several 150-year-old churches crown our silhouette. One of them, St. Mary's Catholic Church (1846) is one of the Painted Churches of Texas. The oldest Lutheran church, Zion Lutheran (1856) stands on Main Street. Both churches are still active and are often part of cultural events in Fredericksburg, such as musical programs and concerts.
Not far from Fredericksburg is Enchanted Rock. Once sacred to Native Americans, it is the second largest granite formation in North America.
